For this piece, I relied a lot more on sensation rather than visuals if that makes any sense. After doing lots of acrylic paints (which I continue to work on), I wanted to try to experiment with alcohol inks to create the 3-panel piece I called Hell, Purgatory, & Heaven. It's a very simple title for a very long thought-out piece. I spent a lot of time listening to music and watching movies that to me seemed like these ideas. I looked a bit through how religions visualize the afterlife and each had very different ways of explaining it or how to visualize it. In Judaism beliefs, hell is more a feeling of shame, while in catholicism/Christianity and Islamic religion, it's a physical state. Heaven for almost all of the religions I looked at talked about it being a place for the best people. it was explained as pretty, a garden, a place of the gods and angels, etc. Purgatory was more in between and dead. So with the small research, I did on each realm, I took it upon myself to make out what those places would look like. If you look closely at Hell, the figure of a nude woman can be seen. Purgatory was made by thinking about something empty, or not there. Heaven was heavily inspired by The Beach Boys and biblically accurate angels. The gold around the white circles was meant to represent some sort of gate to the afterlife.
Alongside the making and research process, I used a lot of songs and pop culture movies to help me with creating these visual ideas. Songs and movies that helped me with creating a visual are listed below.

HEAVEN: This Is Hardcore - End Of The Line Remix: Pulp

PURGATORY: Aisatsana [102] - Aphex Twin

HELL: I'll Take Care of You - Gil Scott-Heron
Movies: Eraserhead, House (1977), The Holy Mountain, Last Night in Soho, American Pop, The Lobster, Perfect Blue, and Beyond the Black Rainbow.

These movies and songs have consistently helped me with my inspirations and I feel have come through with helping me create a visual in this piece. To the left of this paragraph section, their are some pictures of the album/song covers and movie covers/shots to give a glimpse into my inspirations.
