I'm currently working on realism, and the first I saw myself getting more into this was with the last L.S.D. paintings. Here I wanted to focus on emptiness and change. The plastic bag with water was all painted only blue and white. I chose a plastic bag because It's so empty, and with the water, it acted as a prelude for the painting of the goldfish. There isn't much to the meaning of the plastic bag other than to portray emptiness. The word "Sunday" at the bottom of the painting is added on from a song that I like by the rapper Earl Sweatshirt; plus Sunday's always felt empty.
The Goldfish comes in to show a change in that emptiness. Usually, when I think of a goldfish I think of them inside a plastic bag. Fish have also been evolving for 530 million years, so what else could be a symbol of change?
Below is a reference photo for the 2 paintings and a sketch of the goldfish
